COMPLEX CATALOGUES

I have a real menu, not four items:
can a digital catalogue cope?

It depends what it has to do. Any tool can handle a list of twenty items with a price next to each. The trouble starts afterwards: subcategories inside subcategories, the same item in three sizes at two prices, pizza only at lunch, the last piece that must not be sold twice. These are ordinary things in a menu or a shop, and they are exactly where a catalogue designed for four items stops being enough.

What Colgo actually does

Categories genuinely nest, and not just one level deep: in production there are some at the third. An item can have combined attributes — size, colour, format — with a price for each combination, not one price with cosmetic variants. And when a guest opens that item, Colgo pre-selects a combination that is actually available, never a sold-out one.

Each category has its own hours and pauses: pizza from 12 to 3 and the minibar always, in the same app, without shutting the whole thing down. An item can be visible only to certain units — the minibar in the rooms and not at the tables, a service only for the apartments.

On the last item, the exact wording matters

Availability is re-checked on the server at the instant the order is sent, not only when the page was loaded. That is what stops the last item being sold to two people who were looking at it at the same time. The same holds for date-based capacity — a tour, a guided visit, an entry — where the cap renews by day, by week or by month, as you set it.

The limits, first

RELATED QUESTIONS
How many items can I put in the catalogue?
There's no limit on the number of items, on any plan. The practical limit is the reader: a two-hundred-item menu is hard to browse on a phone, and that's exactly what subcategories are for.
Can I have different prices per size or format?
Yes. You define the attributes — size, colour, format — and each combination has its own price and its own availability. It isn't one price with cosmetic variants.
What happens if something runs out while a customer is looking at it?
A page already open doesn't refresh by itself, but availability is re-checked on the server when the order is sent: if it has run out meanwhile, the order doesn't go through and the customer finds out immediately, not later.
Can I show a service only to some rooms?
Yes, per individual unit or per unit type. The minibar only in the rooms and not at the tables, a service only for the apartments: the item simply doesn't appear to those it doesn't concern.
